Taiwan clinched the first win at the East Asian Games in Tianjin. They drubbed Hong Kong in the opener. Six players scored in double figures for Taiwan. Huang YingLi (170-G-89) netted 17 points in the victory.
Taiwan unloaded 34 points in the first period to gain a 20-point cushion. They stayed red hot offensively in the second term. Taiwan dropped 32 points in the period and established a 66:22 halftime lead. Taiwan kept their opponents at bay throughout the third term. They piled up a 99:31 lead into the fourth quarter and never looked back en route to the win. Szu Chin Peng and Chen Yu-Chun (176-F-87) produced 15 points apiece in the victory. Cheuk Ting answered with 12 points and 8 rebounds for Hong Kong. Pik Yi Lam had 11 points in the defeat.
