Hong Kong - Japan 41:125
Japan posted the third win at the 2009 East Asian Games. Earlier today they battered hosting Hong Kong to improve at 3-1 record. Hong Kong suffered the third straight defeat and remained at the bottom of the standings.
Offence was the key to the success for Japan. The first frame was astonishingly impressive in terms of Japanese dominance. They exploded with 45 points holding Hong Kong to just 6 points. Having built a massive 39-point lead Japan slowed down a bit in the second stanza. They dropped 23 points to stretch the margin at 52 points after twenty minutes. The game was virtually over at the moment. Japan loosened the grip in the second half but still did not allow the hosts to win a single stanza. The visitors fired 57 points after the main break and rallied to the win at the end. Seven players scored in double figures for Japan. Yoshie Sakurada (170-G/F-84) scored 17 points for Japan. Mami Yamada (175-F-88) delivered 15 points in the victory. Cho Kit Ying (81) and Koon Kin Ho (81) answered with 9 points each for Hong Kong.
