Three Russian teams played their first games in Euroleague Eighth- Finals. Those who hosted the games won them, the one that played abroad lost. Even though the result is not superb, all of them can qualify to the quarterfinals.
CSKA beat USVO Valenciennes 85-75. Belgian Ann Wauters (194-C-80) led the winners with 22 points. Vedrana Grgin-Fonseca (188-F-75) finished with 16 points in the losing effort. CSKA was winning 4 pointa at the half and could increase to 10 points.
Spartak Moscow is 99% in the quarterfinals after winning over ZVVZ USK Prague 82-54. Tina Thompson (188-F-75, college: USC) collected 25 points for Russians.
The only team that upset Russia was MKB Euroleasing Sopron. The Hungarian team overcame UMMC Yekaterinburg 86-76. Our players led 41:37 at the half, however lost the game. Suzy Batkovic (193-C-80) chipped in 19 points for UMMC.
