South Outshoot North to Win the 2026 CBA All-Star Game as Xu Jie Takes MVP- March 10, 2026The South All-Stars lit up the Xishi Basketball Center for a 161-147 win over the North to claim the 2026 Chinese Basketball Association All-Star Game, with Guangdong guard Jie Xu (181-PG-2000) crowning a banner weekend by being named Most Valuable Player.
The marquee game on March 8 unfolded as a shooting exhibition. The two sides traded baskets early in a defense-optional first quarter before turning it into a three-point shootout, the South carrying a narrow 85-82 lead into halftime. The game tilted decisively early in the third, when the South opened on a 9-0 burst built on a flurry of triples and stretched the gap to as many as 17. The North refused to fold, tightening up defensively in the fourth and clawing back to within two, but Jie Xu and fellow Guangdong guard Mingxuan Hu (191-PG-1998) answered with three straight three-pointers to slam the door. Xu, the All-Star Game's overall top vote-getter, was sensational, drilling seven threes on his way to 35 points with four rebounds and six assists to earn the MVP nod. His Guangdong teammate Xu Xin (226-C-2003) added 27 points and seven rebounds. For the North, import Diallo led all scorers with 41 points, Hao Fu (208-C-1997) chipped in 25 and Rui Zhao (188-G-2005) 17, while Shandong's import Chris came off the bench for 24, most of them on a series of crowd-pleasing alley-oop dunks. The single-event finals at halftime produced their own highlights. Mingxuan Hu won the Three-Point Contest in dramatic fashion, tying Xirelijiang Muhetaer on 22 in the final before catching fire in a tiebreaker hitting 13 of 15 in 30 seconds to reclaim the crown five years after his last. Nanjing Tongxi rookie Jiang He) took the Skills Challenge with a quickest time of 59.8 seconds, and wild-card entrant Zhang Dingyan won the Slam Dunk Contest with three perfect-scoring dunks, including a leap over 2.26-meter Guangzhou center Xu Xin the fourth straight year a grassroots player has won the dunk title. The weekend had opened on March 7 with the Rising Stars Challenge, in which the CBA youngsters beat a collegiate select team 94-76 behind MVP Jiazheng Chen (194-F-2006)'s 26 points. |
