The Regular Season in CBA is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 7 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Bottom-ranked Blue Whales (0-36) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 103-84 loss to thirteenth ranked Jilin Tigers (15-21) in Changchun on Tuesday evening. Jilin NE T. made 30-of-35 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Sichuan helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American forward DJ Wilson (208-1996, college: Michigan) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. American-Albanian point guard Dallas Moore (185-1994, college: UNF) chipped in 24 points and 5 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). Jilin Tigers' coach Zheng Cheng used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hanyi Jing (195-1999) produced 21 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Jilin NE T. moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Beijing. Sichuan at the other side still closes the standings. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Important game to mention about took place in Nanjing. Eighteenth ranked Jiangsu Dragons (10-25) saved a 1-point victory at home edging higher ranked Royal Fighters (15-21) 89-88 on Monday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. American forward Harry Giles III (208-1998, college: Duke) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 13 rebounds. Zhenglin Pang contributed with 18 points and 6 assists for the winners. American Grant Riller (189-1997, college: Charleston) answered with 28 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for Beijing. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Jiangsu D. maintains eighteenth place with 10-25 record, which they share with Tianjin P. Beijing lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 21 games lost. They share it with Jilin NE T.. Jiangsu D. will play against higher ranked Zhejiang GB. (#7) in Hangzhou in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Beijing will play on the road against Nanjing (#16) in Jiangsu and hopes to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Taiyuan between Eagles and Loongs. Seventh ranked Eagles (21-15) got a very close victory on the road over 11th ranked Loongs (18-17). Eagles managed to escape with a 3-point win 100-97 on Monday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Loongs. Quinndary Weatherspoon stepped up and scored 35 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Kyle Guy responded with 30 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Despite that victory Qingdao E. went down to eighth position due to points difference. Loser Loongs keeps the eleventh place with 17 games lost. Qingdao E. will meet at home higher ranked Guangdong ST (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Shanxi L. will play against Shenzhen L. (#3) and hope to secure a win.
Other games of round 41 were very predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Nanjing was defeated by Beijing D. in a road game 106-92. Guangzhou lost to defending champion Guangsha L. at home 81-88. Guangdong ST lost to Shandong H. on the opponent's court 86-99. Tianjin P. managed to outperform Ningbo R. in a home game 102-89. Shenzhen L. managed to beat Xinjiang on the road 102-97. Liaoning defeated Fujian S. on its own court 112-103.
