Tina Charles is a newcomer at Henan

Tina Charles

Henan Phoenix (WCBA) strengthened their roster with the addition of experienced 37-year-old USA ex-international 193cm center Tina Charles (college: UConn). She played recently at Rhythm (AUPro) in the U.S. In 6 games she just recently played, she recorded very impressive stats: 20.5ppg, 11.7rpg, 3.5apg, and 1.0spg this season. She also played for another AUPro team Eclipse in the U.S. semi-pro league AUPro. The other team she played shortly was another AUPro team Glow in the U.S. semi-pro league AUPro.
In 2010, the Connecticut Sun selected her as the first overall pick in the WNBA draft.
Charles graduated from the University of Connecticut and is currently in her 16th season in pro basketball.
She was also a member of the USA international program for some years. Charles played for USA Senior National Team between 2010 and 2021 and previously for the University National Team back in 2009.
She is a very experienced player. Thanks to her pro career, she managed to play on three different continents (Europe, Asia, and North America) in five different countries. Charles has played professionally in Poland (Wisla), Russia (Dynamo Moscow and Dynamo Kursk), Turkey (Fenerbahce), WNBA (Washington Mystics, New York Liberty, Seattle Storm, Phoenix Mercury, and Atlanta Dream), and China (Jiangsu, Beijing Great Wall, Power, Yuanda, and Magic Deer).
Among many awards, she won the Turkish League championship title in 2025. She was selected to the Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese WCBA Honorable Mention in 2024. It may be one of the last seasons in her extensive career, which she may end at Henan.
