Shamorie Ponds

HK JinNiu (NBL) inked 27-year old American 185cm guard Shamorie Ponds (college: St.John's). He started the season at Sichuan Blue Whales (CBA). In 11 games he averaged impressive 18.2ppg, 2.6rpg, 4.6apg and 1.4spg. NBL will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time. The last season summer he played at Dorados (LNBP) in Mexican league.
In 2021 (two years after his graduation) Delaware Blue Coats voted him as first overall pick in G-League draft.
The former St. John's University standout
He graduated his college in 2019 and is in his seventh season in pro basketball.
Ponds was a member of USA Under 19 National Team back in 2017.
He is a very experienced player. Ponds has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to nine different countries on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America). He has played professionally in Bahrain (Al-Najma), Bosnia (Spars), Mexico (Astros), Qatar (Al Rayyan), Uruguay (Malvin), Venezuela (Marinos), NBA (Toronto Raptors), NBA G League (Raptors 905 Mississauga) and Mongolia (Miners).
Among many awards Ponds' team made it to the Bahrain League Semifinals in 2025. Ponds was also selected to Latinbasket.com All-Mexican CIBACOPA Defensive Player of the Year back in 2023.
