Hunan adds Watkins to their roster, ex Al Ittihad

Hunan Changsha (NBL) added 30-year-old American forward Michael Watkins (206cm-115kg-1995, college: Penn State) to their roster. He began the season at Al Ittihad in the Saudi Arabian SBL league. In 5 games, he averaged 14.4ppg, 9.8rpg, 1.6apg, 1.4spg, and 2.2bpg. Watkins also played 1 game in the West Asia Super League, where he posted 11 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks.
Watkins is a highly experienced player, having played professionally in ten different countries across four continents. He has gained valuable experience during his career, playing in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and North America. Watkins has competed for teams in Colombia, Israel (Hapoel Haifa), Lebanon (Antonine), Mexico (Soles), Philippines (Warriors), Venezuela (Piratas), Dominican Republic (Metros, Parque Hostos, Indios, Titanes, and Million), NBA G League (Delaware Blue Coats), and The Basketball Tournament (HV Hoopers).
His team achieved a spot in the Mexican LNBP Semifinals in 2024. He earned a spot on the Asia-Basket.com All-Lebanese League All-Imports Team in 2025.
Watkins graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 2020 and is currently in his sixth season as a professional player.
