Li's double-double lands her Player of the Week award

21-year old forward Wenxia Li (184-F-2004) had an amazing evening in the last round for second-ranked Guangdong Vermilion Birds and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 21.
She had a double-double of 29 points and 17 rebounds, while her team beat Hebei (#9, 7-14) 83-76. Vermilion Birds maintains the 2nd position in their group in the Chinese WCBA. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Guangdong will need more victories to improve their 16-5 record. Li has many years of experience at Vermilion Birds, through which she has constantly improved. Li has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in rebounds (6th best: 10.6rpg) and averages solid 63.5% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Ruthy Hebard (192-F-1998) of Shanghai Baoshan Dahua Swordfish. She is American forward in her first season at Shanghai. In the last game Hebard recorded an impressive double-double of 27 points and 17 rebounds. Of course she led Swordfish to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Shaanxi (#11, 2-19) 90-67. Shanghai's 5th position in Group A has not changed. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But a 13-8 record is not bad and everything may still change. Hebard is a newcomer at Shanghai and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.0ppg (#9). She also registered 12.8 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Natasha Howard (188-F-1991, agency: LBM Management) of Sichuan Yuanda Meile Basketball Club (#3). Howard got into 30-points club by scoring 37 points in the last round. She went also for eighteen rebounds . She was a key player of Yuanda, leading her team to a 93-73 easy win against the lower-ranked Wuhan (#8, 9-12). Sichuan needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams in Group A. Their record at this point is 16 victories and 5 lost games. Howard has a great season in China. After 19 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.8ppg (7th best) and rebounds with 8.8rpg (9th best). She also has 1.1bpg and a FGP of 57.0%.
