Sumner's 39-point game gives him Player of the Week award

30-year old American guard Edmond Sumner (198-G-1995) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked Guangdong Southern Tigers and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 23.
He had the game-high 39 points adding four rebounds and six assists for Guangdong ST in his team's victory, helping them to beat Tianjin P. (#16, 7-14) 98-89. Guandong Tigers is placed at 2nd position in Chinese league. They are still close to the very top. Guangdong ST would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 17-4 record. In the team's last game Sumner had a remarkable 86.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be Guandong Tigers's top player in his first season with the team. Xavier University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Sumner is in league's top in points (4th best: 22.1ppg) and averages solid 53.1% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Kenneth Lofton Jr. (201-F-2002) of Shanghai Sharks. He is American forward in his first season at Shanghai S.. In the last game Lofton Jr. recorded an impressive double-double of 30 points and 10 rebounds. Of course he led Sharks to another comfortable win 95-78 over the lower-ranked Guangzhou LL (#9, 11-9) being unquestionably team leader. Shanghai's 3rd position in the standings has not changed. His team lost just four games this season, while they won 16 matches. Lofton Jr. is a newcomer at Shanghai and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Quinndary Weatherspoon (190-G-1996) of Qingdao Eagles (#7). Weatherspoon got into 30-points club by scoring 31 points in the last round. He went also for eleven rebounds and nine assists. Despite Weatherspoon's great performance the Eagles lost 84-93 to the higher-ranked Guangsha L. (#1, 18-3). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Qingdao E. needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 12 victories and 8 lost games. Weatherspoon has a great season in China. After 19 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 24.4ppg (best scorer) and assists with 6.5apg (5th best).
