NBL Round 15 (Regular Season): Jiangxi is defeated by Jiangsu

The game between third ranked Jiangxi (10-5) and eighth ranked Jiangsu (7-7) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Jiangxi was defeated by Jiangsu in Jiangxi 100-89. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Jiangxi. Jiangsu looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Jiangxi's players. It was a great evening for American center Robert Upshaw (213-1994, college: Washington) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import point guard Quade Green (183-1998, college: Washington) helped adding 30 points and 4 assists (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). The best for the losing side was American guard Niven Glover (196-2000) with 53 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Jiangsu moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Hubei. Jiangxi at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. They share it with Hunan. Jiangsu is looking forward to face league's leader HK JinNiu in Hong Kong in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Jiangxi will have a break next round.
NBL top team - HK JinNiu (13-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Guizhou (4-10) in Hong Kong 86-55. It was a quality performance for Nigerian-American swingman EJ Anosike (199-1998, college: CS Fullerton) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. ZhanWang Diao accounted for 15 points. HK JinNiu's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Shusen Lin (188-2001) came up with 12 points and 4 assists for Guizhou in the defeat. Undefeated HK JinNiu have an impressive series of thirteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 13-0 record. Guizhou at the other side keeps the twelfth position with ten games lost. They share it with Hangzhou. HK JinNiu will play against Jiangsu (#8) in Yannan in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Guizhou will play on the road against Hubei (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Zhangjiakou (0-14) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 14th consecutive match to eleventh ranked Shandong (6-8) 74-63 on Tuesday evening. The best player for the winners was Michael Holyfield who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 23 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Viny Okouo who recorded 15 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Shandong moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Anhui W. Zhangjiakou lost their fourteenth game in a row. They still close the standings with 14 games lost. Shandong will meet at home Anhui W. (#9) in the next round. Zhangjiakou will play against Hebei (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

In the last two games of round 15 Hefei won against Anhui W. on the opponent's court 88-84. Hunan outscored Jiaozuo in a home game 96-66.

Zhangjiakou - Shandong 63-74

Bottom-ranked Zhangjiakou (0-14) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 14th consecutive match to eleventh ranked Shandong (6-8) 74-63 on Tuesday evening. Shandong dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Zhangjiakou's 32. They outrebounded Zhangjiakou 49-28 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American center Michael Holyfield (211-1992, college: SHSU) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 23 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Hasahn French (201-1998, college: St.Louis) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was DR Congolese center Viny Okouo (214-1997) who recorded 15 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Chris Martin (195-1994) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Very expected game when 8th ranked Anhui W. (6-8) was defeated at home by third ranked Hefei (10-4) 88-84 on Tuesday. The best player for the winners was American forward Brandon McCoy (213-1998, college: UNLV, agency: MSG) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds. Greek forward Dimitrios Agravanis (208-1994, agency: Diamond Sports) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Noah Dickerson (207-1997, college: Washington) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and 18 rebounds and the other American import Matt Mobley (194-1994, college: St.Bonaventure) added 24 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Four Anhui W. players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Hefei moved-up to second place. Loser Anhui W. dropped to the ninth position with eight games lost. They share it with Shandong. Hefei will meet at home Hangzhou (#13) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Anhui W. will play against Shandong (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Very predictable result in Changsha where fourth ranked Hunan (10-5) smashed 10th ranked Jiaozuo (6-9) 96-66 on Wednesday. Hunan outrebounded Jiaozuo 37-22 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hunan looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American-Iraqi guard Ramon Galloway (190-1991, college: La Salle) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 7 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals. Power forward Qingming Wang (201-1992) chipped in 29 points. Four Hunan players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Thailand guard Tra Holder (185-1995, college: Arizona St.) who recorded 25 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and forward Xiaochi Huang (200-2005) added 7 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hunan moved-up to third place, which they share with Jiangxi. Loser Jiaozuo dropped to the eleventh position with nine games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
