Kalani Brown claims Chinese WCBA weekly honour

American Kalani Brown (201-C-1997, agency: LBM Management) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's second-best Shanxi Flame and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 17.
The 28-year old center had the game-high 35 points adding nine rebounds and three assists for Shanxi in her team's victory, helping them to outclass Zhejiang (#12, 2-15) with 32-point margin 96-64. Flame maintains the 2nd position in their group in the Chinese WCBA. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Shanxi will need more victories to improve their 13-4 record. In the team's last game Brown had a remarkable 86.7% from 2-point range. She turned to be Flame's top player in her first season with the team. Kalani Brown averages this season 24.9ppg and 7.4rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American forward Ruthy Hebard (192-F-1998) of Shanghai Baoshan Dahua Swordfish. Hebard impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 28 points and 18 rebounds. It was enough for Swordfish to edge the lower-ranked Hebei (#9, 5-12) by 5 points 89-84. Shanghai's 6th position in Group A has not changed. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But a 9-7 record is not bad and everything may still change. Hebard is a newcomer at Shanghai and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.3ppg (#8). She also registered 12.4 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was American Natasha Howard (188-F-1991, agency: LBM Management) of Sichuan Yuanda Meile Basketball Club (#3). Howard got into 30-points club by scoring 33 points in the last round. She went also for twelve rebounds and four assists. She was a key player of Yuanda, leading her team to a 90-71 easy win against the lower-ranked Beijing (#10, 5-12). Sichuan needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams in Group A. Their record at this point is 12 victories and 4 lost games. Howard has a great season in China. After 14 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.0ppg (9th best). She also has 1.2bpg and a FGP of 54.3%.
