Kai James claims Chinese WCBA weekly honour

Experienced American Kai James (196-C-1995) had a great game in the last round for Beijing Great Wall and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 14.
The 30-year old center had a double-double of 37 points and 13 rebounds, while her team beat Shaanxi (#11, 2-13) 89-75. The game was not the highest importance and did not have significant influence on top of the standings in Group A. Thanks to this victory Beijing Great Wall moved-up to the 10th position in Chinese WCBA. The season is in a full swing, so it's only a dream for the team to make it into top half of the standings. For contrary they may face relegation if the situation turns from bad to worse. Beijing have already lost 11 games and recorded just four victories. James turned to be Beijing Great Wall's top player in her first season with the team. Kai James averages this season 15.5ppg and 9.1rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American forward Cheyenne Parker-Tyus (193-F-1992) of Shandong Sports Lottery. Parker-Tyus impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds. It was enough for Sports Lottery to edge Jiangsu (10-5) by 5 points 97-92. Shandong's 4th position in Group A has not changed. Her team's 10-5 record is not bad at all. Parker-Tyus is a newcomer at Shandong and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.2ppg (#8). She also registered 8.4 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was American Sidney Cooks (193-F/C-1998) of Shaanxi Red Wolves (#11). Cooks got into 30-points club by scoring 32 points in the last round. She went also for nine rebounds . Despite Cooks' great performance the Red Wolves lost 75-89 to slightly higher-ranked Beijing (#10, 4-11). But her team cannot count on just a single shooter as she also needs help of the other teammates. Shaanxi can only dream about fighting for top spots in Group A. They have rather bad season and 2-13 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Cooks has individually a great season in China. After 13 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.8ppg (5th best).

9. Marena Whittle (180-G-1994) of Shanxi - 21 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists
10. Kalani Brown (201-C-1997) of Shanxi - 23 points and 4 rebounds
