Shanxi Flame (WCBA) has agreed to terms with Australian guard Marena Whittle. The 31-year-old, who stands at 180cm, played for Mainland Pouakai in New Zealand last season. In 12 games, she averaged 19.6ppg, 8.4rpg, 3.6apg, and 1.5spg. Whittle was named to the Australiabasket.com All-New Zealand League All-Defensive Team, All-Imports Team, and League Player of the Week. She also played for Flames (NBL One) in Australia.
She is a very experienced player. Her career allowed her to visit three different continents, while she played in four different countries. Whittle tasted the life as a pro basketball player in Europe, Australia and of course North America. She has played professionally in Hungary (Szekszard), New Zealand, Spain (Estudiantes) and Australia (Adelaide Lightning, Townsville Fire, Perth Lynx, Spectres and Bendigo Spirit). Whittle was also voted to Eurobasket.com All-Hungarian League All-Defensive Team in 2025.
She won the Australian NBL1 championship title in 2022.
Whittle graduated from North Dakota State University in 2016 and it'll be her tenth season as a pro player.
