Shelby Cheslek (ex Leonas) signs at Xiamen

Shelby Cheslek

Xiamen Egrets (WCBA) signed 32-year-old American 196cm center Shelby Cheslek (college: Gonzaga, agency: LBM Management) for the upcoming season. She last played for Leonas in Puerto Rican BSNF, where she averaged 11.3ppg, 8.7rpg, 4.4apg, 1.5spg, and 1.5bpg in 18 games. Prior to that, she played for Burhaniye Belediyesi (TKBL) in the Turkish league.
She is a very experienced player. Thanks to pro basketball, she experienced life in nine different countries playing on four different continents. Cheslek is familiar with European, Latin American, Australian, and of course North American leagues. She has played professionally in Australia (Diamond Valley Eagles and Pirates), Finland (Forssan Alku), Greece (Niki Lefkadas and Dafni Agioy), Hungary (PINKK-Pecsi), Mexico (Correcaminos), New Zealand (Hoiho), Spain (Ferrol), and Turkey (Fenerbahce).
In 2024, Cheslek's team reached the Finnish League Semifinals. Cheslek was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Finnish League Center of the Year in 2024.
She graduated from Gonzaga University in 2016 and it'll be her tenth season in pro basketball.
