Ningbo Rockets (CBA) added 28-year old USA ex-international point guard Zavier Simpson (183cm-84kg-1997, college: Michigan) for season 2025-26. He was the top scorer at LA Clippers in the NBA Summer League. He managed to play in three leagues in two countries last year. In four NBA Summer League games recently he recorded 8.3ppg, 3.5rpg, 4.3apg, 1.8spg and 1.3bpg. Last season he played at U-Banca Transilvania Cluj Napoca (Liga Nationala) in Romanian league. The team played in three different competitions that year, and he was exposed to basketball on different levels. Simpson also played 34 games in Romanian Liga Nationala where he averaged 14.9ppg, 3.4rpg, 5.6apg and 1.2spg. He helped them to win the Romanian League title despite they ended the regular season at the second place. A very spectacular year in his career as he was voted Eurobasket.com All-Romanian League Finals MVP and selected to All-Imports Team and League Player of the Week.
In 2021, a year after graduating, he was drafted by the Oklahoma City Blue (G-League) in the first round (7th overall).
He graduated from the University of Michigan in 2020, and it will be his sixth season in pro basketball. Simpson was a member of the USA Senior National Team in 2021.
He is quite an experienced player. Thanks to Simpson's pro career, he managed to play on three different continents (Europe, Latin America, and North America) in six different countries. Simpson has played professionally in Germany, Puerto Rico (Criollos), Romania, NBA (OKC Thunder and Memphis Grizzlies), NBA G League (OKC Blue, Osceola Magic, and Motor City Cruise), and NBA Summer League (Charlotte Hornets, Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, and LA Lakers).
