The most exciting game of round 16 in the NBL took place in Hebei. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of their biggest opponent Hunan (11-7) to third ranked Hebei (11-8) 94-91 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hunan. Hebei made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. Strangely Hunan outrebounded Hebei 42-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian-American swingman EJ Anosike (199-1998, college: CS Fullerton) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds. American center Trevor Thompson (210-1994, college: Ohio St., agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American guard Dominique Jones (193-1988, college: S.Florida) replied with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) for Hunan. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Hebei maintains third position with 11-8 record having seven points less than leader HK JinNiu. Hunan at the other side keeps the second place with seven games lost. Hebei are looking forward to face Jiangxi (#6) in the next round. Hunan will play against Hefei (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

At the losing side American Gerry Blakes (193-1993, college: Arizona St.) responded with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Jiangxi moved-up to sixth place. Hefei at the other side dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. Jiangxi will play against higher ranked Hebei (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Hefei will play against the league's second-placed Hunan in Changsha and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
