NBL Round 16 (Regular Season): Hebei beats Hunan by three after a very close game

The most exciting game of round 16 in the NBL took place in Hebei. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of their biggest opponent Hunan (11-7) to third ranked Hebei (11-8) 94-91 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hunan. Hebei made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. Strangely Hunan outrebounded Hebei 42-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian-American swingman EJ Anosike (199-1998, college: CS Fullerton) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds. American center Trevor Thompson (210-1994, college: Ohio St., agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American guard Dominique Jones (193-1988, college: S.Florida) replied with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) for Hunan. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Hebei maintains third position with 11-8 record having seven points less than leader HK JinNiu. Hunan at the other side keeps the second place with seven games lost. Hebei are looking forward to face Jiangxi (#6) in the next round. Hunan will play against Hefei (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Hefei (10-8) against seventh ranked Jiangxi (7-11) on Wednesday night. Host Hefei was defeated by Jiangxi in a tough game at home 98-105. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Isaiah Briscoe (190-1996, college: Kentucky) who helped to win the game recording 38 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 5 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and Robert Upshaw who added 23 points and 5 blocks during the contest. At the losing side American Gerry Blakes (193-1993, college: Arizona St.) responded with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Jiangxi moved-up to sixth place. Hefei at the other side dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. Jiangxi will play against higher ranked Hebei (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Hefei will play against the league's second-placed Hunan in Changsha and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

HK JinNiu - Hubei 95-56

NBL top team - HK JinNiu (18-1) had no problems winning another game on Tuesday. This time they crushed eighth ranked Hubei (1-18) 95-56. HK JinNiu have an impressive 16-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 18-1 record. Hubei lost eighth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 18 lost games. HK JinNiu will meet at home Guangxi (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Hubei will play against Jiangsu YS in Yannan and hope to win that game.

Hefei - Jiangxi 98-105

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Hefei (10-8) against seventh ranked Jiangxi (7-11) on Wednesday night. Host Hefei was defeated by Jiangxi in a tough game at home 98-105. Jiangxi made 29-of-33 charity shots (87.9 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Isaiah Briscoe (190-1996, college: Kentucky) who helped to win the game recording 38 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 5 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and the other American import center Robert Upshaw (213-1994, college: Washington) who added 23 points and 5 blocks during the contest. At the losing side American Gerry Blakes (193-1993, college: Arizona St.) responded with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and Greek forward Dimitrios Agravanis (208-1994, agency: Diamond Sports) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Jiangsu YS (9-10) beat on the road 7th ranked Guangxi (7-12) 98-89 on Wednesday. Jiangsu YS made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American guard Devonte Green (190-1997, college: Indiana) who scored that evening 29 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and Czech center Ondrej Balvin (217-1992, agency: Octagon Europe) supported him with 24 points and 15 rebounds. Four Jiangsu YS players scored in double figures. Even 39 points (!!!) and 6 assists by guard Zhenglin Pang (183-1971) did not help to save the game for Guangxi. American guard Javion Hamlet (193-1998, college: N.Texas) added 25 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Guangxi's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Jiangsu YS maintains fifth position with 9-10 record. Guangxi lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 12 games lost. Jiangsu YS will meet at home bottom-ranked Hubei (#8) in the next round. Guangxi will play against the league's leader HK JinNiu and hope to secure a win.
