NBL Round 2 (Regular Season): Jiangsu YS lose to Jiangxi

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in NBL. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Jiangsu YS on the court of Jiangxi on Wednesday night. Visitors were edged by Jiangxi 95-94. American center Robert Upshaw (213-1994, college: Washington) scored 30 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import swingman Melvin Frazier Jr (196-1996, college: Tulane) chipped in 24 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Jiangxi's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Czech Tomas Kyzlink (198-1993) responded with 38 points (!!!) and 5 assists. Jiangxi is looking forward to face Hubei in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Jiangsu YS will play against HK JinNiu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Important game to mention about took place in . Hunan saved a 3-point victory on the road edging Jiangxi 101-98 in the game for the first place. Americans were the main players on the court. Power forward Dakari Johnson (213-1995, college: Kentucky) notched a double-double by scoring 28 points and 15 rebounds to lead the effort and Dominique Jones supported him with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 37 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds by swingman Melvin Frazier Jr (196-1996, college: Tulane) did not help to save the game for Jiangxi. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Hunan will play against Hefei in the next round where they are favorite. Jiangxi will play against Hubei and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in was also quite interesting. HK JinNiu played at the court of Hefei. HK JinNiu managed to secure a 9-point victory 79-70 on Wednesday. The best player for the winners was Michael Ertel II who scored 26 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Gerry Blakes produced 20 points for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. HK JinNiu will meet at home Jiangsu YS in the next round. Hefei will play against Hunan and hope to secure a win.

In the last two games of round 2 winless Hubei was destroyed by Hebei on the opponent's court 132-100. Winless Guangxi was outscored by Hefei in a home game 70-91.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 19 points and 5 assists by Zihao Liu of Hefei.



Jiangxi - Jiangsu YS 95-94

Very expected game when Hubei was crushed on the road by Hebei 132-100 on Thursday. Hebei dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Hubei's 56. Hebei looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Davion Warren (198-1999, college: Texas Tech) who scored 30 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Nigerian-American swingman EJ Anosike (199-1998, college: CS Fullerton) chipped in a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds. Four Hebei players scored in double figures. Serbian center Dejan Bjelic (209-1990, agency: Octagon Europe) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and Haitian forward Jeantal Cylla (201-1996, college: Arkansas) added 22 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hebei will meet at home Guangxi in the next round where they are favorite. Hubei will play against Jiangxi and hope to win that game.

Rather predictable result when Hefei smashed on the road Guangxi 91-70 on Saturday. Hefei dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Guangxi's 32. They outrebounded Guangxi 42-24 including a 35-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hefei looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Guangxi's players. The best player for the winners was American forward Demond Robinson (206-2000, college: KSU) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Forward Zihao Liu (198-1993) chipped in 19 points and 5 assists. Four Hefei players scored in double figures. American Joe Lawson (200-1992, college: Indianapolis) produced 17 points and 6 rebounds and guard Zhenglin Pang (183-1971) added 13 points respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
