Damian Jones claims Chinese CBA Hoops Agents weekly honour

American Damian Jones (210-C-1995) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Zhejiang Golden Bulls and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 38.
The 29-year old center had a double-double of 30 points and 18 rebounds, while his team crushed Tianjin (#15, 11-26) with 17-point margin 128-111. Golden Bulls is placed at 8th position in Chinese CBA. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Zhejiang GB. will need more victories to improve their 24-13 record. In the team's last game Jones had a remarkable 73.3% from 2-point range. He turned to be Golden Bulls's top player in his first season with the team. Vanderbilt University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Jones is in league's top in points (2nd best: 17.8ppg) and averages solid 2.2bpg,70.2% FGP and 43.5% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American forward Scottie James Jr. (202-F-1996, agency: Pensack Sports) of Tianjin Ronggang Pioneers. James Jr. impressed basketball fans with 41 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as Pioneers lost that game 111-128 to the higher-ranked Zhejiang GB. (#8, 24-13). Tianjin managed to keep the same 15th spot in the standings. 26 lost games are too many comparing to just eleven victories Pioneers managed to get this year. James Jr. is a newcomer at Tianjin and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 25.0ppg (#7). His other stats are also decent: 14.3rpg and 4.0apg.

The third best performed player last round was American Markell Johnson (188-PG-1998) of Shenzhen Leopards (#13). Johnson showcased his all-around game by recording 24 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists (!!!) in the last round. He was a key player of Leopards, leading his team to a 104-86 easy win against the lower-ranked Guangzhou LL (#18, 8-29). The chances of Shenzhen L. not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 23 games, recording just fourteen victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Johnson could try to bring Shenzhen L.'s a little bit higher in the standings. Johnson has individually a great season in China. After 26 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 7.2apg (7th best).
