Smith's double-double lands her Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

28-year old Australian forward Alanna Smith (193-F-1996) put on an amazing game in the last round for second-ranked Shandong Sports Lottery and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 37.
She had a double-double of 39 points and 11 rebounds, while her team outclassed Xinjiang (#5, 7-25) with 29-point margin 98-69. Sports Lottery maintains the 2nd position in their group in the Chinese WCBA. Shandong is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 18-15 record. In the team's last game Smith had a remarkable 57.1% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 6 attempts. She turned to be Sports Lottery's top player in her first season with the team. Stanford University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Smith is in league's top in rebounds (6th best: 10.6rpg) and averages solid 2.2spg and 63.2% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Emma Cannon (188-F-1989) of league's second-best Henan Phoenix. She is American forward in her first season at Henan. In the last game Cannon recorded an impressive double-double of 31 points and 12 rebounds. Of course she led Henan Phoenix to another comfortable win outscoring slightly higher-ranked Wuhan (#1, 26-6) 95-64. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in Group B. Henan consolidated its place in top 2 of the standings. Her team's 23-9 record is not bad at all. Cannon is one of the most experienced players at Henan and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.3ppg (#5). She also registered 9.9 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Ezinne Kalu (173-G-1992) of Zhejiang Golden Bulls (#3). Kalu got into 30-points club by scoring 34 points in the last round. She went also for four assists. Despite Kalu's great performance the Golden Bulls lost 92-95 to #4 ranked Jiangsu. But her team cannot count on just a single shooter as she also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The chances of Zhejiang ranking at the top of Group A1, however are very questionable as they have already lost 17 games, recording just fifteen victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Kalu could help Zhejiang to bring them higher in the standings. Kalu has a great season in China. After 31 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.1ppg (7th best). She also has 2.5spg and a FGP of 54.1%.
