The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Flame (23-7) in Taiyuan on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Mongolia (21-9) 76-61. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Inner M. looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Li Yuan (170-2000) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. The former international forward Ru Zhang (179-1999) contributed with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Mongolia's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Chen Yujie (178-2000) replied with 22 points (made all of her seven free throws) for Shanxi. Mongolia have an impressive five-game winning streak. Inner M. moved-up to second place, which they share with Henan and Shaanxi. Shanxi at the other side still keeps top position with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
An interesting game for Yuanda (28-1) which played road game in Nanjing against 4th ranked Jiangsu (10-19). First ranked Yuanda had an easy win 90-73. The former international center Xu Han (208-1999) scored 20 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Elizabeth Cambage chipped in 24 points during the contest. Yuanda's coach Milos Paden allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side Nigerian-American forward Michaela Onyenwere (183-1999, college: UCLA) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Yuanda have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 28-1 record. Jiangsu lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 19 games lost. Sichuan will play against league's second-placed Zhejiang in Yiwu in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Jiangsu will play at home against Xinjiang and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Ronggang is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their 30th consecutive match to sixth ranked Hefei (15-15) 87-75 on Tuesday evening. Kiana Williams notched 22 points to lead the effort. Hefei's coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 19 points and 8 rebounds by Jianping Zhang did not help to save the game for Tianjin. Newly promoted Hefei maintains sixth position with 15-15 record. Loser Ronggang still closes the standings with 30 games lost. Hefei will meet at home higher ranked Liaoning (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Tianjin will play against Xiamen (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
Other games in round 34 were not that significant. Xinjiang beat Fujian on the road 75-67. Ganzhou was destroyed by Henan on its own court 50-81. Hebei was outscored by Guangdong in Dongguan 104-76. Liaoning was rolled over Heilongjiang at home 53-74. Shaanxi defeated Xiamen on the opponent's court 74-65.
