Wang Jiaqi claims Chinese WCBA weekly honour

Wang Jiaqi (173-PG-1999) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's second-best Zhejiang Golden Bulls and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 33.
The 25-year old playmaker got a double-double of 24 points and 14 assists, while her team crushed Shandong (15-14) with 18-point margin 104-86. Golden Bulls is placed at 2nd position in Chinese WCBA. Zhejiang is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 15-14 record. In the team's last game Jiaqi had a remarkable six three-pointers out of 12 attempts. It's her second year at Golden Bulls and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Jiaqi has impressive league stats. She is league's best passer with 6.4apg. Jiaqi is in league's top in and averages solid 2.0spg and 41.0% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Australian forward Alanna Smith (193-F-1996) of Shandong Sports Lottery. Smith impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 35 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as Sports Lottery lost that game 86-104 to slightly higher-ranked Zhejiang (15-14). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in Group A1. Shandong still maintains its place in the top 3 of the standings, even despite this loss. Her team's 15-14 record is not bad at all. Smith is a newcomer at Shandong and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Kalani Brown (201-C-1997, agency: LBM Management) of Inner Mongolia Nongxin (#3). Brown scored 27 points and grabbed 14 rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of Mongolia, leading her team to a 84-67 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Beijing (#5, 12-17). Inner M. needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams in Group A2. Their record at this point is 20 victories and 9 lost games. Brown has a great season in China. After 26 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.5ppg (5th best).

8. Imani McGee-Stafford (201-C-1994) of Xiamen - 27 points and 13 rebounds
9. Myisha Hines-Allen (185-F-1996) of Heilongjiang - 18 points, 19 rebounds and 6 assists
10. Chen Yujie (178-F-2000) of Shanxi - 28 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
