WCBA Round 32 (Regular Season): Shanghai is defeated by Inner M.

The games are now more important than at the beginning of the Regular Season. We may still expect few shocking results in upcoming 4 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most important game in the last round took place in Hohhot between third ranked Swordfish (18-10) and fourth ranked Mongolia (19-9) on Friday night. Swordfish was defeated by Mongolia on the road 83-70. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Kalani Brown (201-1997, college: Baylor, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds and the former international forward Lili Wang (183-1992) who added 21 points and 4 assists during the contest. Brazilian center Kamilla Cardoso (201-2001, college: S.Carolina) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. Mongolia have a solid three-game winning streak. Inner M. moved-up to third place. Shanghai at the other side dropped to the fourth position with ten games lost. Inner M. are looking forward to face Beijing (#5) on the road in the next round. Shanghai will play against the league's leader Shanxi in Taiyuan and is hoping to win this game.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Penglai. Second ranked host Sports Lottery (15-13) defeated 4th ranked Jiangsu (10-18) 94-76. The winners were led by Australian forward Alanna Smith (193-1996, college: Stanford) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds and Wei Cao supported her with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Even 21 points and 5 assists by center Xu Chenyan (200-1999) did not help to save the game for Jiangsu. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sports Lottery have a solid four-game winning streak. Shandong maintains second position with 15-13 record having eight points less than leader Wuhan. Jiangsu lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 18 games lost. Shandong will play against Zhejiang (#3) in Yiwu in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Jiangsu will have a break next round.

The best player for the winners was Khulan Onolbaatar who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Sidney Cooks produced 18 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. hengfan have an impressive 13-game winning streak. Wuhan maintains first position with 26-4 record. Ganzhou lost tenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth place with 22 games lost. Wuhan will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ganzhou will play against the league's second-placed Henan (#2) and hope to secure a win.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 32: winless Tianjin lost to Heilongjiang on the opponent's court 71-87. Shaanxi managed to outperform Hefei in a home game 80-66. Henan rolled over Xiamen on the road 94-61. Fujian was crushed by Zhejiang on its own court 55-96. Shanxi beat Hebei in Taiyuan 82-67.

Heilongjiang - Tianjin 87-71

Very expected game in Daqing where bottom-ranked Ronggang (0-29) was defeated by third ranked Dragons (20-11) 87-71 on Thursday. Heilongjiang dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Ronggang's 26 and made 27-of-31 free shots (87.1 percent) during the game. Heilongjiang outrebounded Tianjin 45-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Myisha Hines-Allen (185-1996, college: Louisville) who had a double-double by scoring 28 points and 16 rebounds. The other American import power forward Kennedy Brown (190-2000, college: Duke) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Forward Ziqi Han (180-1999) produced 14 points and center Zhu Yuxi (192-2003) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Tianjin players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Dragons have a solid three-game winning streak. Despite that victory Heilongjiang went down to fourth position due to points difference. Loser Ronggang still closes the standings with 29 games lost. Heilongjiang will meet Liaoning (#5) in the next round. Tianjin will play against Hefei (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

The other American import guard Linnae Harper (175-1995, college: Ohio St.) chipped in 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Red Wolves players scored in double figures. Not a big story in a game when 7th ranked Xiamen (8-21) was rolled over at home by second ranked Henan Phoenix (20-9) 94-61 on Thursday. Henan forced 19 Xiamen turnovers and had a 36-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. Henan looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Xiamen's players. The best player for the winners was American forward Emma Cannon (188-1989, college: FSC) who scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. The other American import guard Kamaria McDaniel (178-1999, college: Michigan St.) chipped in 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. American center Imani McGee-Stafford (201-1994, college: Texas) produced 9 points and 14 rebounds and guard Wong Yew-Yan (172-1997) added 11 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts.
