TJ Leaf claims Chinese CBA weekly honour

Israeli-American TJ Leaf (208-F-1997) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Nanjing Tongxi Monkey Kings and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 3.
The 27-year old forward had a double-double of 43 points and 14 rebounds, while his team beat Ningbo R. (#12, 1-2) 126-115. Monkey Kings is placed at 8th position in Chinese CBA. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. Nanjing will need more victories to improve their 2-1 record. In the team's last game Leaf had a remarkable 89.5% from 2-point range. He turned to be Monkey Kings's top player in his first season with the team. University of California at Los Angeles graduate has very impressive stats this year. Leaf is in league's top in points (9th best: 27.0ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 13.7rpg) and averages solid 2.3bpg and 73.8% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American guard Dominique Jones (193-G-1988) of Jilin Northeast Tigers. Jones impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 46 points and 11 assists. Bad luck as Jilin Tigers lost that game 113-121 to Zhejiang GB. (1-2). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Jones is a newcomer at Jilin NE T. and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 39.7ppg (#1). His other stats are also decent: 11.3rpg and 13.3apg.

The third best performed player last round was international center Hansen Yang (216-C-2005) of Qingdao Eagles (#9). Yang showcased his all-around game by recording 26 points, 11 rebounds (!!!) and 4 assists in the last round. Despite Yang's great performance the Eagles lost 113-118 to Guangdong ST (#15, 1-2). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Qingdao E. needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 2 victories and 1 lost games. Yang has a very solid season. In 3 games in China he scored 17.7ppg.
