Sichuan Blue Whales (CBA) signed 30-year old American (has also USA-U.S. Virgin Islands passport) forward Marcus Georges-Hunt (196cm-97kg-1994, college: Georgia Tech) for upcoming 2024-25 season. He is the second foreign player in the roster as USA Edmond Sumner signed here earlier.
It is actually his comeback to Blue Whales as he has played here before. He played last season at Shabab Al Ahli in UAE ULB league. Georges-Hunt also played for Al Kuwait SC in Kuwaiti league earlier that season where in 15 West Asia Super League games he had 14.4ppg, 4.5rpg, 3.0apg and 1.4spg. He helped them to win the group title. 2023-24 was a great season as he was named to Asiabasket.com All-West Asia Super League Final 8 Second Team.
Georges-Hunt has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2016.
He was a member of USA Under 19 National Team in 2013.
Georges-Hunt is quite experienced player. He has played in six different countries on three different continents (Asia, Latin America and of course North America). Georges-Hunt has played previously professionally in Kuwait, Puerto Rico (Mets), NBA (Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, Orlando Magic and Minnesota Timberwolves), China (Jiangsu Dragons and Loong Lions), NBA G League (Iowa Wolves, College Park SkyHawks and Maine Celtics) and NBA Summer League (Atlanta Hawks). He was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Basketball Champions League Asia Forward of the Year in 2024.
He graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2016 and it will be his ninth season as a professional player.
