Chinese WCBA round 45 best performance: Olivia Nelson-Ododa

American Power forward Olivia Nelson-Ododa (196-PF-2000) had a very impressive game in the last round for Guangdong Vermilion Birds, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 45.
The 23-year old player had a double-double of 36 points and 13 rebounds, while her team beat Shanghai (#6, 26-10) 95-85. Vermilion Birds maintains the 3rd position in Chinese WCBA. They are still close to the very top. Guangdong would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 30-6 record. Nelson-Ododa turned to be Vermilion Birds's top player in her first season with the team. Former University of Connecticut star has very solid stats this year. Nelson-Ododa is in league's top in rebounds (9th best: 10.6rpg) and averages impressive 62.4% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young Zhao Xuetong (185-F-1993) of league's second-best Sichuan JinQiang Chengdu. Xuetong had a very good evening with a double-double of 28 points and 12 rebounds. Of course she led JinQiang to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Fujian (#13, 12-24) 105-73. Sichuan's second position in the standings has not changed. Her team belongs to top of the standings with 34-2 record and is considered one of the main candidates for the league title. Xuetong is one of the most experienced players at Sichuan and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was international forward Yu Tang (188-PF-1999) of Beijing Great Wall (#10). Tang scored 24 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. She was a key player of Beijing Great Wall, leading her team to a 70-61 win against the lower-ranked Wuhan (#14, 10-26). Beijing needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 19 victories and 17 lost games. Tang has a very solid season. In 30 games in China she scored 13.5ppg. She also has 5.6rpg and a FGP of 56.3%.
