Jonquel Jones claims Chinese WCBA weekly honour

Bahamas-Bosnia and Herzegovina Jonquel Jones (198-C-1994) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's leader Inner Mongolia Nongxin and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 42.
The 29-year old center had a double-double of 32 points and 12 rebounds, while her team beat Xinjiang (#8, 19-14) 92-80. It allowed Mongolia to jump to the first place in the Chinese WCBA. Inner M. has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 31-2. In the team's last game Jones had a remarkable 68.4% from 2-point range. She turned to be Mongolia's top player in her first season with the team. The George Washington University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Jones is in league's top in points (5th best: 23.5ppg), rebounds (3rd best: 12.6rpg) and averages solid 69.5% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American center Tina Charles (193-C-1988) of Hebei Win Power. Charles impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 30 points and 18 rebounds. Of course she led Power to another comfortable win outscoring slightly lower-ranked Fujian (#13, 11-22) 93-50. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Hebei keeps 11th position. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 16-17 record. Charles is a newcomer at Hebei and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 25.0ppg (#3). Her other stats are also decent: 13.5rpg and 3.1apg.

The third best performed player last round was Zhao Xuetong (185-F-1993) of second-ranked Sichuan JinQiang Chengdu. Xuetong showcased her all-around game by recording 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists in the last round. She was a key player of JinQiang, leading her team to a 102-66 easy win against the lower-ranked Wuhan (#14, 10-23). Many experts and fans count Sichuan as a contender for championship title. Another victory and another confirmation that they may be right. Just look at their record: 31 victories and only two lost games. Xuetong has a very solid season. In 9 games in China she scored 17.4ppg. She also has 8.1rpg, 4.2apg and a FGP of 64.2%.
