Gillenwater comes back to Heroes

Troy Gillenwater

Shandong Heroes (CBA) strengthened their roster with addition of 33-year old American 205cm forward Troy Gillenwater (college: NM State) for season 2022-23. It is actually his comeback to Heroes as he has played here before. He played this summer at Gutter Cat Gang (The Basketball Tournament) in the U.S. The last season he played at Heroes in Chinese CBA where in 27 games he recorded very impressive stats: 19.4ppg, 5.9rpg and 1.0apg. Great season indeed as he was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese CBA Honorable Mention and League Player of the Week.
He is a very experienced player. Thanks to his pro career he managed to play on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America) in ten different countries. Gillenwater has played previously professionally in Cyprus, Israel, Japan (Alvark Tokyo), Philippines (SM Beermen), Puerto Rico (Piratas), Russia (Spartak Primorie Vladivostok), Turkey (Eskisehir Basket), Venezuela (Bucaneros), South Korea (KoGas, LG Sakers and Goyang Orions) and China (Shaanxi). He won Chinese NBL championship title in 2017 and 2018. Gillenwater was selected to Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese NBL Forward of the Year back in 2017 and 2018.
He graduated from New Mexico State University in 2011 and it will be his twelfth (!!!) season in pro basketball.
