Shandong Heroes (CBA) landed 32-year old American forward Troy Gillenwater (205-104kg-88, college: NM State). He played most recently at ET Land in South Korean KBL league. In 24 games he averaged impressive 16.6ppg and 4.8rpg last season. He was also selected League Player of the Week.
The previous (2019) summer Gillenwater played at Shaanxi in Chinese NBL where in 27 games he had very remarkable stats: 32.1ppg, 9.0rpg and 2.7apg in 2019 season. He helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in the league. They also advanced to the league semifinals. It was a very successful season in his career as he was selected to Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese NBL 1st Team, All-Imports Team and also here League Player of the Week (2 times).
Gillenwater is a very experienced player. And here thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in nine different countries playing on four different continents. He is familiar with European, Asian, Latin American and of course North American leagues. Gillenwater has played previously professionally also in Cyprus, Israel, Japan (Toyota Alvark), Philippines (SM Beermen), Puerto Rico (Piratas), Russia (Spartak Primorie Vladivostok), Turkey (Eskisehir Basket) and Venezuela (Bucaneros).
Among many awards Gillenwater won Chinese NBL championship title for two years in a row (2017 and 2018). He received also Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese NBL Player of the Year award and Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese NBL Import Player of the Year award back in 2018.
He attended New Mexico State University until 2011 and it will be his tenth season in pro basketball.
