Eagles keep Johnson for another season

Dakari Johnson

Qingdao Eagles (CBA) re-signed 24-year old American ex-international power forward Dakari Johnson (213-107kg-95, college: Kentucky). He was a team leader there last season. In 29 CBA games he recorded very impressive stats: 23.7ppg, 14.5rpg (#3 in the league), 3.0apg, 1.0spg and 1.6bpg. Good season as he was selected League Player of the Week (2 times).
The previous (2019) summer Johnson played at Anhui Wenyi (NBL) where in 16 games he averaged remarkable 25.9ppg, 15.7rpg (#3 in the league), 3.3apg and 1.0spg in 2019 season. Johnson helped them to win the league title. Great season indeed as he was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese NBL 2nd Team, All-Star Game and also here League Player of the Week.
In 2015 he was drafted by Oklahoma City Thunder (NBA) in second round (48th overall). The former University of Kentucky star is in his sixth season in pro basketball.
Johnson also represented USA at the World Championships U17 in Kaunas (Lithuania) eight years ago. His team won Gold and his stats at that event were 4 games: 5.0ppg, 4.3rpg.
Johnson has played previously professionally in NBA (Orlando Magic) and NBA G League (OKC Blue).
Among many awards he received USBasket.com All-D-League Forward of the Year award back in 2017.
