Michael Holyfield (ex Hong Kong ELL) agreed terms with Zhejiang Guangsha Lions

Michael Holyfield

Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (CBA) inked 27-year old American center Michael Holyfield (211-122kg-92, college: SHSU). He started the season at Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions in Hong Kong D1 league. In 10 games he recorded 12.7ppg, 14.6rpg and 2.0bpg this season. The last summer Holyfield played at Beijing Bucks (NBL) where in 21 games he averaged impressive 24.8ppg, 21.9rpg, 1.0apg, 1.5spg and 1.7bpg. A very good season in his career as he was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese NBL 2nd Team and League Player of the Week (3 times).
Among many awards he won NBA Pro Summer League in Orlando championship title in 2015. Holyfield received also All-Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year award back in 2015 at his college time.
Holyfield is a very experienced player. He has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to five different countries on three different continents (Asia, Australia and of course North America). Holyfield has played previously professionally in Australia (Illawarra Hawks), Taiwan (Pauian), NBA (Memphis Grizzlies), NBA G League (South Bay Lakers) and China (Hunan).
He attended Sam Houston State University until 2015 and it is his fifth season in pro basketball.
Holyfield's game is described as: He's going to bring more size underneath the basket for us than we have ever had before. He passes well for a big man and is a good shot blocker. Mike works hard on both sides of the ball and is highly coachable.
