Fujian Sturgeons (CBA) strengthened their roster with addition of experienced 36-year old American ex-international power forward Amare Stoudemire (208-111kg-82). He played in the summer at Tri-State (Big3) in the U.S. Stoudemire managed to play in three leagues in two countries last year (!!!). Great season indeed as he was awarded USBasket.com All-Big3 Defensive Player of the Year. The last season he played at Hapoel Jerusalem (Winner League) in Israeli league where in 15 games he recorded 13.1ppg and 5.8rpg. Stoudemire helped them to make it to the semifinals. He also played 18 games in Basketball Champions League where he averaged 12.1ppg and 5.7rpg. Stoudemire contributed to his team making it to the quarterfinals. A very good season in his career as he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Basketball Champions League Honorable Mention.
In 2002 he was drafted by Phoenix Suns (NBA) in first round (9th overall).
Stoudemire won Israeli Premier League championship title in 2017. He was a member of USA Senior National Team between 2004 and 2007.
Stoudemire has played previously professionally in NBA (Dallas Mavericks, Miami Heat and New York Knicks) and NBA G League (College Park Skyhawks).
He is close to retirement age as a player. It may be one of last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Sturgeons.
The scouts decsribe him following way: Finally showing all what his potential allows. One of the best athletes in NBA. Has the body and the strength. He will dunk on anybody who gets in his way. Improved his post moves around the basket, hes a strong rebonder and an impressive shot-blocker.
