German Maik Zirbes (208-C-90, agency: BeoBasket) had a great game in the last round for league's leader Guangxi and that's him to receive a Interperformances NBL Player of the Week award for round 9.
The 28-year old center had a double-double of 33 points and thirty rebounds, while his team crushed Hefei (#8, 3-5) with 21-point margin 122-101. It allowed Guangxi to consolidate first place in the Chinese NBL. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is already in a full swing and Guangxi still have not lost a single game, getting all 8 victories. Zirbes just recently signed at Guangxi, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Zirbes has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (3rd best: 19.9rpg) and averages solid 64.3% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 26-year old American center Michael Holyfield (211-C-92) of Beijing. Holyfield impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 37 points and 27 rebounds. It was enough for Beijing to edge slightly lower-ranked Hebei X. (#12, 2-7) by 5 points 127-122. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Beijing keeps 10th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 3-6 record. Holyfield is one of the most experienced players at Beijing and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was American Anthony Tucker (193-G-89) of Hefei (#8). Tucker got into 30-points club by scoring 45 points in the last round. He went also for fourteen assists. Despite Tucker's great performance Hefei lost 101-122 to the league's current leader Guangxi (#1, 8-0). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Hefei not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 5 games, recording just three victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Tucker could try to bring Hefei's a little bit higher in the standings. Tucker has individually a great season in China. After only 8 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 31.5ppg (8th best) and assists with 11.4apg (best passer).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Devin Green (201-G/F-82) of Wuhan - 35 points, 19 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Kenny Hayes (186-PG-87) of Hebei X. - 45 points, 2 rebounds and 7 assists
6. Troy Gillenwater (205-F-88) of Shaanxi X. - 38 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists
7. Igor Zaytsev (210-C/F-89) of Chongqing - 31 points and 14 rebounds
8. Mike Harris (198-SF-83) of Henan - 32 points, 19 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Steph Hicks (198-G-92) of Anhui P. - 38 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Russ Smith (183-PG-91) of Guizhou - 42 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

The Player of the Week awards are presented by Interperformances. Interperformances is a full-service agency specializing in the representation of professional athletes the world-over. With more than forty-eight years of experience, INTERPERFORMANCES is well known to all professional teams and clubs. General Managers trust and rely on our opinions and recommendations.

2019-20 CBA Changes - 3 hours ago
down
The 2019-20 CBA season is expected to have some significant rule changes that will directly affect the level of players signing in what has been one of the top leagues, as far as money is concerned, at least. The CBA has ratified a standard contract that essentially makes EVERY contract non-guaranteed at least for the first two months, the silver lining for players/agents is that the CBA season traditionally starts so late, that 90% of the non guaranteed portion will be satisfied before...   [read more]

Corey Webster (188-G-88, college: Lambuth, agency: Alti Sport) showed he's set for a big season for New Zealand Breakers putting up 19 first half points to lead the NBL Select Team to beating Team China 86-74 in Game 3 of the annual series on Sunday night in Changzhou. Team China had wrapped up the series by winning the opening two matches starting with an 89-77 triumph on Wednesday in Qingdao and then prevailing 101-98 in Nantong on Friday night. But the NBL Select Team wasn't about to r...   [read more]

Webster, Steindl can't quite shoot NBL over China - 4 days ago
down
Despite Clint Steindl (200-F/G-89, college: St.Mary's, CA) and Corey Webster (188-G-88, college: Lambuth, agency: Alti Sport) combining for nine triples, Zhelin Wang (214-PF-94) proved the difference inside as Team China beat the NBL Select Team 101-98 in Game 2 of the series on Friday night in Nantong. The game did go down to the wire with the NBL Select Team having a look at a tying shot on the buzzer, but Steindl's three didn't fall and China wrapped up the series after also winning Ga...   [read more]
