NBL top team - Guangxi (6-0) managed to deliver another win on Sunday. This time they beat eighth ranked Chongqing (2-4) 102-89. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 60-44 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Guangxi outrebounded Chongqing 55-41 including 21 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Chongqing's players. Worth to mention a great performance of German center Maik Zirbes (208-90, agency: BeoBasket) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 25 rebounds. American guard Dominique Jones (193-88, college: S.Florida) contributed with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners. Guangxi's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ukrainian power forward Igor Zaytsev (210-89) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 21 rebounds for Chongqing. Undefeated Guangxi have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 6-0 record. Chongqing at the other side keeps the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with Wuhan. Guangxi are looking forward to face Henan (#4) on the road in the next round. Chongqing will play against Guizhou (#5) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
Bottom-ranked Anhui P. is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their sixth consecutive match to fourth ranked Henan (5-1) 128-115. It was a great evening for Nigerian-American point guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) who led his team to a victory scoring 40 points (!!!) and 9 assists. Mike Harris helped adding 25 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. At the losing side American guard Steph Hicks (198-92, college: CS Northridge) responded with a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Henan. They maintain fourth place with 5-1 record. Anhui P. lost their sixth game in a row. They still close the standings with six games lost. Henan will play against league's leader Guangxi at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Anhui P. will play against Hefei (#7) in Nanjin and hopes to get finally their first victory.

(2-5) 128-117 on Sunday evening. It was an exceptional evening for Yannan Li who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 44 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds. Hebei X.'s coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Ronnie Aguilar came up with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 22 rebounds for Luoyang in the defeat. Hebei X. moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Beijing. Luoyang lost their seventh game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. Hebei X. will meet at home league's second-placed Shaanxi X. in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Luoyang will play against Hunan (#6) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.

Anhui W. will have a break next round. Hunan will play on the road against Luoyang (#13) and hope to win that game.
The game between 10th ranked Beijing (2-5) and second ranked Shaanxi X. (6-1) in Beijing on Sunday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Xian beat Beijing 103-89. It was a very good performance for Troy Gillenwater who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Shaanxi X.. They maintain second place with 6-1 record having just one point less than leader Guangxi, which they share with Anhui W. Loser Beijing keeps the tenth position with five games lost. Shaanxi X. will face Hebei X. (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Beijing will play against Wuhan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 7 Wuhan was beaten by Guizhou on the road 116-108.
The most impressive performance of 7th round was 38 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 7 assists by Russ Smith of Guizhou.



Hunan - Anhui W. 105-114

The game in Changsha was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Anhui W. (6-1) played at the court of 5th ranked Hunan (4-3). Anhui W. managed to secure a 9-point victory 114-105. The guests were already 13 points ahead at halftime and as many as 18 after three quarters before a 30-21 last quarter charge of Hunan cut the lead to 114-105 at the end of the game. Anhui W. players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American-Montenegrin point guard Taylor Rochestie (185-85, college: WSU) fired a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. American power forward Elijah Holman (208-89, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 27 points and 16 rebounds. American guard OJ Mayo (193-87, college: USC) produced a double-double by scoring 44 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 5 assists and center JunQi Jiang (202-90) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Anhui W. and four Hunan players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Anhui W.. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Shaanxi X. Hunan at the other side dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Anhui W. will have a break next round. Hunan will play on the road against Luoyang (#13) and hope to win that game.

Henan - Anhui P. 128-115

Bottom-ranked Anhui P. is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their sixth consecutive match to fourth ranked Henan (5-1) 128-115. The game was mostly controlled by Henan. Anhui P. was better in fourth quarter 34-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Henan forced 19 Anhui P. turnovers. Strangely Anhui P. outrebounded Henan 44-28 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 21 long-distance shots on high 51.2 percentage. Henan players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists. No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Guizhou (4-2) beat at home 9th ranked Wuhan (2-4) 116-108 on Sunday. Wuhan trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 31-25 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 108-116 at the end of the game. Guizhou made 25-of-28 free shots (89.3 percent) during the game. Quite impressive performance for American point guard Russ Smith (183-91, college: Louisville) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 7 assists (made all of his thirteen free throws !!!). American-Nigerian center Chris Otule (211-90, college: Marquette) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 19 rebounds for the winners.
