The Regular Season in CBA just ended. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

An interesting game for Guandong Tigers (42-4) which hosted in Dongguan 3rd placed Leopards (34-12). First ranked Guandong Tigers managed to get a 14-point victory 128-114. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Leopards. Guandong Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 100 of its points in the paint compared to Leopards' 40. They outrebounded Leopards 51-28 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. American swingman MarShon Brooks (196-89, college: Providence) orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. His fellow American import swingman Sonny Weems (198-86, college: Arkansas) contributed with 33 points (!!!) for the winners. American point guard Kenny Boynton (188-91, college: Florida, agency: Higher Vision Sports) answered with 31 points for Leopards. Leopards' coach rotated eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guandong Tigers have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with 42-4 record. Leopards at the other side keep the third position with 12 games lost.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Jiangsu Dragons (23-23) and Bayi Rockets (12-34), which took place in Nanjing. Higher ranked Jiangsu Dragons were outleveled at home by eighteenth ranked Bayi Rockets 129-88. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Jiangsu Dragons. It was a great evening for Aersilan Azat who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Yan Cao helped adding 25 points and 5 assists. Bayi Rockets' coach Zhizhi Wang felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Yifan Hou (196-92) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds. Bayi Rockets moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with Tianjin GL. Jiangsu Dragons at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with 23 games lost. They share it with Zhejiang Ch..
Another upset was a game between Sturgeons (26-20) and Sharks (24-22), which took place in Jinjiang. Higher ranked Sturgeons were outleveled at home by eleventh ranked Sharks 124-89 on Wednesday. It was an exceptional evening for Jimmer Fredette who led the winners and scored 32 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Zhelin Wang came up with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds for Sturgeons in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sharks moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Guangzhou LL and Jilin NE T. Loser Sturgeons keep the seventh position with 20 games lost. They share it with Shandong GS.
Another upset was a game between Golden Bulls (23-23) and Blue Whales (11-35), which took place in Sichuan. Higher ranked Golden Bulls lost to nineteenth ranked Blue Whales in a road game 114-119. American players dominated the game. The best player for the winners was Jason Thompson who had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 27 rebounds and 9 assists. Golden Bulls' coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Blue Whales moved-up to eighteenth place, which they share with Nanjing TX MK. Golden Bulls at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with 23 games lost.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 47: Shandong GS beat Beijing Dragons on the road 119-101. Guangsha L. destroyed Nanjing TX MK on its own court 104-82. Guangzhou LL outscored Jilin NE T. in a road game 136-108. Shanxi Z. recorded a loss to Beijing Ducks at home 109-120. Liaoning FL crushed Tianjin GL on the opponent's court 119-95. Qingdao E. was smashed by Xinjiang FT in a home game 118-142.



Beijing Dragons - Shandong GS 101-119

No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Golden Stars (26-20) beat bottom-ranked Fly Dragons (8-38) in Beijing 119-101. Golden Stars players were unselfish on offense dishing 34 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Fly Dragons' players. The best player for the winners was Lithuanian power forward Donatas Motiejunas (213-90) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international center Rongzhen Zhu (210-99) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. Four Golden Stars players scored in double figures. American swingman Ricky Ledo (201-92, college: Providence) produced a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!), 15 rebounds, 8 assists and 7 steals and forward Liang Yu (209-86) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Golden Stars moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Fujian S. Fly Dragons lost their sixth game in a row. They stay dead last with 38 lost games.

Very expected game when 17th ranked Monkey Kings (11-35) were smashed by fifth ranked Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (31-15) in Hangzhou 104-82. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions forced 22 Monkey Kings turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. The best player for the winners was Greek center Ioannis Bourousis (214-83) who scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. The former international forward Jinglong Li (195-95) chipped in 27 points. Forward JianYe Song (198-91) produced 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Wenhan Qiao (195-91) added 13 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest.
