The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Guandong Tigers as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Guandong Tigers defeated 4th ranked Zhejiang Guangsha Lions in Dongguan 114-108. They outrebounded Zhejiang Guangsha Lions 58-45 including 18 on the offensive glass. Guandong Tigers looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Guandong Tigers made 7 blocks. 30 personal fouls committed by Zhejiang Guangsha Lions helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Michael Beasley (208-89, college: Kansas St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks. The other American import swingman Sonny Weems (198-86, college: Arkansas) contributed with 28 points and 6 assists for the winners. American point guard Courtney Fortson (180-88, college: Arkansas) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 6 rebounds, 11 assists and 6 steals for Zhejiang Guangsha Lions. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guandong Tigers have a solid four-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Xinjiang FT. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions will play next round against Long-Lions trying to get back on the winning streak. Guandong Tigers will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Golden Bulls in Hangzhou.
Leading Flying Leopards (37-6) recorded its sixth loss in Yingkou. Hosts were defeated by thirteenth ranked Jilin Tigers (20-22) 120-113. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Flying Leopards. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Dominique Jones (193-88, college: S.Florida) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 41 points (!!!), 22 rebounds and 11 assists and Maciej Lampe who added 15 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. The former international Ailun Guo (192-93) responded with 37 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds. Flying Leopards' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Jilin Tigers maintains thirteenth position with 20-22 record. Defending champion Flying Leopards dropped to the second place with six games lost. Jilin Tigers will play against higher ranked Beijing Ducks (#6) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Flying Leopards will play against Eagles (#15) in Qingdao and hope to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Jinjiang between Beijing Ducks and Sturgeons. Sixth ranked Beijing Ducks (28-15) got a very close victory on the road over 7th ranked Sturgeons (25-18). Beijing Ducks managed to escape with a 2-point win 108-106 in the fight for the sixth place. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Sturgeons. The winners were led by Aaron Jackson who had that evening a double-double by scoring 28 points, 5 rebounds and 13 assists. Even 29 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) by Zhelin Wang did not help to save the game for Sturgeons. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Beijing Ducks maintains sixth position with 28-15 record. Sturgeons at the other side keep the seventh place with 18 games lost. Beijing Ducks will meet Jilin Tigers (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sturgeons will play against Fly Dragons (#20) in Beijing and hope to secure a win.

Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Golden Stars (24-19) and Eagles (12-31), which took place in Jinan. Higher ranked Golden Stars lost at home to fifteenth ranked Eagles 125-129 on Tuesday. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Golden Stars. Dakari Johnson orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!), 24 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Eagles' coach Bin Fan used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Eagles maintains fifteenth position with 12-31 record. Loser Golden Stars keep the eighth place with 19 games lost. Eagles will face league's second-placed Flying Leopards in Yingkou in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 44: Tianjin GL smashed Bayi R. on the road 121-102. Guangzhou LL lost to Shanghai S. on its own court 105-114. Shenzhen L. managed to outperform Zhejiang Ch. in a road game 124-111. Bottom-ranked Beijing Dragons recorded a loss to Sichuan BW at home 117-122. Shanxi Z. were defeated by Xinjiang FT on the opponent's court 134-125.
The most impressive performance of 44th round was 45 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 9 assists by Taylor Rochestie of Tianjin GL.



Nanjing TX MK - Jiangsu D. 100-103

Sixteenth-ranked Monkey Kings (11-32) used its home court advantage to challenge twelfth ranked Jiangsu Dragons (21-22). The visitors from Nanjing managed to secure only three-point victory 103-100. However their fans expected much easier game. The best player for the winners was American guard Donald Sloan (190-88, college: Texas A&M) who scored 26 points and 5 rebounds. Center Quanxi Wu (210-94) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 18 rebounds. Five Jiangsu Dragons players scored in double figures. American guard Joseph Young (188-92, college: Oregon) produced 42 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import center Isaiah Austin (216-93, college: Baylor, agency: Slash Sports) added 16 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. But Bayi Rockets were not able to use a home court advantage and were crushed by the opponent from Tianjin 121-102 on Wednesday night. Gold Lions made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. American-Montenegrin point guard Taylor Rochestie (185-85, college: Washington St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 45 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Guard DeShuai Shi (192-92) contributed with 23 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international center Hao Fu (206-97) replied with 18 points and 8 rebounds and Aersilan Azat added 19 points in the effort for Bayi Rockets.
