There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Shenzhen. First ranked Guandong Tigers faced 4th ranked Leopards. Guests from Dongguan (20-3) defeated host Leopards (17-6) 102-87. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Leopards. Guandong Tigers made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Leopards 58-40 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Guandong Tigers looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was international power forward JunFei Ren (203-90) who scored 30 points and 9 rebounds. American swingman Sonny Weems (198-86, college: Arkansas) chipped in 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was international center Zijie Shen (205-97) who recorded 17 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guandong Tigers have an impressive 17-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 20-3 record. Leopards at the other side dropped to the third place with six games lost. They share the position with Beijing Ducks. Guandong Tigers are looking forward to face Beijing Ducks (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Leopards will play against Long-Lions in Guangzhou and are hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
The game in Jinjiang was also worth to mention about. 7th ranked Sharks (15-8) played at the court of eighth ranked Sturgeons (13-10). Sturgeons defeated Sharks 106-95. Sturgeons maintains eighth position with 13-10 record, which they share with Guangzhou LL. Sharks at the other side keep the seventh place with eight games lost. Sturgeons will play against higher ranked Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (#5) in Hangzhou in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sharks will play at home against Bayi Rockets and hope to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Jiangsu between Monkey Kings and Zhejiang Guangsha Lions. Fifteenth ranked Monkey Kings (8-15) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (16-6). Monkey Kings managed to escape with a 3-point win 106-103 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Zhejiang Guangsha Lions. Worth to mention a great performance of Joseph Young who helped to win the game recording 38 points (!!!) and 8 assists. Monkey Kings' coach Gintaras Krapikas used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Cheng Liu with 31 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Monkey Kings moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Zhejiang Ch. Loser Zhejiang Guangsha Lions dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Monkey Kings will meet Eagles (#17) in the next round. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions will play against Sturgeons (#8) and hope to secure a win.

It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Golden Stars. The winners were led by Pierre Jackson who scored that evening 41 points (!!!) and 8 assists. Golden Stars' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Fly Dragons moved-up to seventeenth place, which they share with Qingdao E. Golden Stars at the other side keep the twelfth position with 13 games lost. Fly Dragons' next round opponent will be higher ranked Golden Bulls (#15) in Hangzhou and it may be quite challenging game.
An interesting game took place in Hangzhou, where higher ranked Golden Bulls (8-15) lost at home to eighteenth ranked Blue Whales (6-16) 80-97 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was Jamaal Franklin who scored 29 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Blue Whales moved-up to sixteenth place. Loser Golden Bulls keep the fourteenth position with 15 games lost. Blue Whales will have a break next round.

Rest of the games of round 24 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Shanxi Z. were defeated by Beijing Ducks in a road game 107-96. Liaoning FL beat Tianjin GL at home 112-105. Qingdao E. was destroyed by Xinjiang FT on the opponent's court 132-106. Bayi R. unfortunately lost to Jiangsu D. in a home game 85-100. Jilin NE T. rolled over Guangzhou LL on the road 121-95.



Shandong GS - Beijing Dragons 100-113

We should mention about the upset which took place in Jinan, where higher ranked Golden Stars (10-13) lost at home to eighteenth ranked Fly Dragons (6-17) 100-113. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Golden Stars. Fly Dragons made 22-of-27 charity shots (81.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Golden Stars 53-35 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by Golden Stars helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by American point guard Pierre Jackson (180-91, college: Baylor) who scored that evening 41 points (!!!) and 8 assists and the other American import Thomas Robinson (208-91, college: Kansas) supported him with 11 points and 18 rebounds. Even 28 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists by American point guard Ty Lawson (180-87, college: N.Carolina) did not help to save the game for Golden Stars. The former international center Ke Wu (209-90) added 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Fly Dragons and four Golden Stars players scored in double figures. Golden Stars' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Fly Dragons moved-up to seventeenth place, which they share with Qingdao E. Golden Stars at the other side keep the twelfth position with 13 games lost. Fly Dragons' next round opponent will be higher ranked Golden Bulls (#15) in Hangzhou and it may be quite challenging game.

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Brave Dragons (9-14) were defeated on the road by third ranked Beijing Ducks (17-6) 107-96 on Saturday. American guard Aaron Jackson (190-86, college: Duquesne) chipped in 16 points and 9 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American Shabazz Muhammad (198-92, college: UCLA) who recorded a double-double by scoring 30 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import point guard Bobby Brown (188-84, college: CS Fullerton) added 18 points and 5 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Beijing Ducks have an impressive 13-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 17-6 record having just three points less than leader Guangdong ST, which they share with Shenzhen L. Brave Dragons lost seventh consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth place with 14 games lost. Beijing Ducks will face league's leader Guandong Tigers in Dongguan in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.

There was a minor upset in Guangzhou where 9th ranked Long-Lions (13-10) were outplayed by eleventh ranked Jilin Tigers (10-12) 121-95 on Sunday. Jilin Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Long-Lions' 36 and made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Jilin Tigers looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Jilin Tigers made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American guard Dominique Jones (193-88, college: S.Florida) who scored 37 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Polish-Swedish power forward Maciej Lampe (211-85) chipped in a double-double by scoring 25 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Kyle Fogg (190-90, college: Arizona) who recorded 26 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists and the former international point guard Tal Co (191-91) added 20 points respectively. Five Jilin Tigers and four Long-Lions players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Jilin Tigers maintains eleventh position with 10-12 record. Loser Long-Lions dropped to the eighth place with ten games lost. Jilin Tigers will face bottom-ranked Gold Lions (#20) in Tianjin in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
