ZHELIN WANG

International Power forward Zhelin Wang (214-PF-94) put on an amazing game in the last round for Fujian S., receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 17.
The 24-year old player had a double-double of 43 points and 22 rebounds, while his team beat Tianjin GL (#20, 2-14) 114-109. Fujian S. is placed at 8th position in Chinese CBA. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Fujian S. will need more victories to improve their 9-7 record. In the team's last game Wang had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Fujian S., through which he has constantly improved. Zhelin Wang averages this season 25.9ppg and 13.5rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was 23-year old American Dakari Johnson (213-C/F-95) of Qingdao E.. Johnson had a very good evening with a double-double of 33 points and 22 rebounds. Of course Qingdao E. cruised to a 117-110 relatively comfortable win over slightly higher-ranked Jilin NE T. (#13, 7-9). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Qingdao E. dropped in the standings to 15th position. 12 lost games are too many comparing to just five victories Qingdao E. managed to get this year. Johnson is a newcomer at Qingdao E., but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Jamaal Franklin (196-SG-91, agency: Slash Sports) of Sichuan BW (#18). Franklin got into 30-points club by scoring 47 points in the last round. He went also for ten rebounds and ten assists. Despite Franklin's great performance Sichuan BW lost 107-112 to the higher-ranked Jiangsu D. (#12, 7-9). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Sichuan BW can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 3-13 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Franklin he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Franklin has a very solid season. In 16 games in China he scored 34.7ppg. He also has 9.4rpg, 7.8apg, 2.9spg, 1.8bpg and FGP: 61.9%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Jinqiu Hu (208-C-97) of Guangsha L. - 30 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Luis Scola (206-F/C-80) of Shanghai S. - 34 points and 11 rebounds
6. Brandon Bass (203-F-85) of Liaoning FL - 26 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists
7. Joseph Young (188-G-92) of Nanjing TX MK - 48 points, 2 rebounds and 6 assists
8. Jonathan Gibson (188-PG-87) of Qingdao E. - 38 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists
9. Cole Aldrich (211-C-88) of Tianjin GL - 25 points, 22 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Marcus Denmon (191-G-90) of Zhejiang Ch. - 39 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Thompson's double-double lands him Player of the Week award - 3 days ago
JASON THOMPSON 32-year old power forward Jason Thompson (211-F/C-86) put on an amazing game in the last round for Sichuan BW and receives a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 47. He had a double-double of 35 points and 27 rebounds, while his team beat Zhejiang Ch. (#12, 23-23) 119-114. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Sichuan BW is placed at 18th position in Chinese league.
