YELENA LEVCHENKO

Sichuan Whale (WCBA) strengthened their roster with addition of experienced 35-year old Belarusian international center Yelena Levchenko (196-88kg-83, college: W.Virginia). It is actually her comeback to Whale as she has played here before. Levchenko played last season at Homentmen Antelias in Lebanese WLBL. She helped them to win the League title. Levchenko also played for Whale where in 22 games she recorded very impressive stats: 22.7ppg, 15.9rpg (#2 in the league), 2.7apg and 1.5spg. Great season indeed as she was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese WCBA 2nd Team.
In 2007 (a year after she left the college) Levchenko was drafted by Houston Comets (WNBA) in first round (8th overall).
The former West Virginia University standoutis in her 13th (hopefully lucky) season in pro basketball.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Levchenko was voted Eurobasket.com All-Polish PLKK Bosman Player of the Year back in 2011.
She has been also a member of Belarusian international program for some years. Levchenko has regularly played for Belarusian senior team since 2003 and previously for U20 National Team in 2002.
She represented Belarus at the Qualifications to European Championships 2017 two years ago. Her stats at that event were 3 games: 11.7ppg, 7.7rpg, 1.0apg, 1.0bpg, FGP: 59.1%, FT: 64.3%.
Levchenko is quite experienced player. Thanks to her pro career she managed to play on three different continents (Europe, Asia and of course North America) in seven different countries. Levchenko has played previously professionally in Lithuania, Russia, Slovakia (Good Angels), Spain, Turkey (Istanbul Uni, Galatasaray and Yakin Dogu), WNBA (Connecticut Sun) and China (Jiangsu Phoenix and Guangdong Dolphins).
She is close to retirement age as a player. It's very possible she may end her playing career at Sichuan.
The scouts decsribe her following way: One of the premier players in the game for long time, she's completely skilled, has yet a solid body and a great personality, serving any game as the vocal leader and leading his team at both ends of the court.
