Whampoa cut a 13-point halftime deficit to two at the end of the game. Jiangsu forced 22 Whampoa turnovers. Strangely Whampoa outrebounded Jiangsu 49-32 including a 24-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Jiangsu made 7 blocks. 25 personal fouls committed by Whampoa helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for U.S. Virgin Isl.-Antiguan guard Julius Hodge (201-83, college: N.Carolina St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Hunter helped adding 17 points and 7 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Jiangsu's coach WanJun Cui used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American forward Eric Hicks (198-83, college: Cincinnati) with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import forward Alan Wiggins (206-85, college: USF) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.
