Bateer

  Bateer Won CBA All-Star Game MVP - Feb.19, 2002
(Taipei, Taiwan - February 18) Although his Ebo Watch All-Stars lost 120-122 to Jordan All-Stars in the 2002 CBA All-Star Game, Beijing Shogang center Menk Bateer was named MVP of the game while rumors of him joining NBA's Denver Nuggets flying around. SINA guard Jason Woodard scored game-high 23 points for the winner.
Alex Scales, who came from Jiangsu Dragons, made two free-throws with 18 seconds remaining to ice the game. Scales had 20 points and 5 assists, while Yao Ming had 18 points, 17 rebounds and 3 blocks. Jilin F Sun Jun and Bayi F Liu Yu-dong had 18 and 15 points, respectively.
Bateer paced Ebo Watch All-Stars with 21 points and 8 boards. Bateer made all three of his two-point field goal attempts and was 5-8 from three-point range, which surprised everyone because he is a 210cm center. Wang Shen of Beijing Aoshen scored 15 points. Gong Xiao-bin of Shangdong had 14.
DUNK CONTEST
Alex Scales and Steven Hart (Shanghai Sharks) were named co-champion for this year's dunk contest. Guangdong's SF Ju Fan-yu came away with third-place finish.
THREE-POINT SHOOTOUT
Beijing Shogang veteran guard Chang Jing-dong had 18 points and won the shootout title over two-time winner Lee Nan (Bayi), who had 16 points in the final round. SINA's Lo Shin-liang was third with 12 points.
