Shanghai Sharks defended their CBA Cup title. They stormed past Shanxi Zhongyu en route to the back-to-back titles. Lofton Jr. Kenneth (201-F-2002, college: La Tech) stepped up with 25 points, while Zheng Liu (192-SG-1990) contributed 24 points for the winners.
Shanghai sank 27 points in the first period to gain a 12-point lead. They erupted for 34 points in the second stanza to accumulate a 61-32 halftime advantage. Shanxi slowed their opponents down in the second half. They narrowed the gap but could not avoid the loss.
Guy Kyle (188-PG-1997, college: Virginia) tossed in 22 points, while Diallo Hamidou (198-SF-1998, college: Kentucky) added 19 points and 10 boards in the loss.
