Undefeated host Cambodia defeated Thailand, 76-66 in the knockout semifinal of the Men's Basketball 5x5 event in the 2023 SEA Games on Monday, May 15 at the Morodok Techno National Stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Naturalized player Brandon Peterson (203-C/F-1990, college: Arkansas St., agency: Diamond Sports) led Cambodia with game-high 24 points on 10-of-16 shooting along with 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Dwayne Morgan (202-F-1996, college: SUU) finished with a double-double of 14 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and a block. Sayeed Pridgett (196-G-1998, college: Montana, agency: Diamond Sports) added 14 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals while Darrin Dorsey (188-PG-1987, college: DWU, agency: Diamond Sports) scored 13 points (3/7 3pts), to go with 5 rebound, 2 assists and a steal. Cambodia advances to the gold medal match tomorrow, May 16 against the Philippines at 4:00PM. On the other semifinal match, Gilas Pilipinas defeated Indonesia, 84-76. |
