20 teams to contest in annual basketball tournament

The much-anticipated You-C1000 Basketball Tournament, set to tip off on June 20 at the Brunei Basketball Association (BBA) Court in Kampong Batu Bersurat, received a boost following a sponsorship handover by the tournament’s title sponsor, You-C1000. General Manager of Hui Huang Enterprise Katerine Hii – the main distributor of You-C1000 in the country, handed over a BND11,000 sponsorship cheque to President of the BBA Jake Goh. The annual basketball tournament, held in conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 79th birthday celebration will see 14 teams competing in the men’s open category, while six teams will be contesting in the women’s open category. “The sponsorship from You-C1000 and Hui Huang Enterprise, the sole distributor of You-C1000 sports drink in Brunei, has been a key factor that enabled us to continue delivering a quality tournament for participants and spectators,” said Jake Goh. In addition to trophies and medals, cash prizes amounting to over BND6,828 will be awarded to the winners. – James Kon.
