Easyway solidifies lead with 99-87 win over Fitness Zone

Team Easyway scored a boost to their title hopes after a 99-87 victory over Fitness Zone in the You-C1000 Basketball Cup at the Brunei Basketball Association Court in Batu Bersurat last night. The title favourites exacted revenge for their 2019 final loss against Fitness Zone after the highly anticipated Group 'B' clash. More importantly they consolidated their position at the top of the standings. Decorey Jones played a central role in the triumph having scored 27 points while Team Captain Ben Sim had 20 points. Meanwhile, Fitness Zone's Lim Liang Wei registered 19 points in a losing effort with Aaron Goh's 18 points. Lim had been one of the leading lights in the Fitness Zone team after impressing in their opening win against Klimzon Engineering. Fitness Zone's Esmond Tan, the hero from the 2019 final, only managed 15 points while Yeo Chun Kiat and team captain Alvin Goh had 14 and 12 points. Easyway's victory sets up a potentially nervy tie between TK Tea House and Fitness Zone on July 4, with both teams chasing for a berth in the knock-out stages. Elsewhere in Group 'A', Concept Xtrike-Me secured a 123-80 victory over Bujang Senang while Yi's Nation recorded back-to-back wins with a 68-56 over Propel in Group 'D'.
In the women's category, Systematic enhanced their title prospects with a 65-36 victory over GHK Motor Sdn Bhd. The competition continues tonight with Tutong Basketball playing against Setia Warriors in Group 'D' while the later tip-off will see a women's match between Shooting Star and Le Doux Patisserie.
