Brunei Pegasus suffered its second consecutive defeat in the Thailand Basketball Super League 2020 after losing to Dunkin' Raptor 107-79 at the Nimibutr stadium yesterday. Reginald Johnson (208-C-89, college: Miami, FL) of Dunkin' Raptor had a big night of 36 points, 28 rebounds and nine assists - one assist shy of a triple double - while Avery Scharer (185-PG-86, college: Shoreline CC) scored 26 points and grabbed seven rebounds as well as 12 assists in the win. Brunei Pegasus' Patrick Cabahug (186-G) hit 25 points with nine rebounds and three assists, sharpshooter Roider Cabrera had 19 points, Kel Hung played well with 16 points and 13 rebounds and Leonidez Avenido (188-SG-78) contributed eight points with three rebound and five assists. Seven-footer Pavle Cvetinovic (215-C-97) only had one rebound in two minutes into the game before twisting his ankle and had to leave the match. Following two defeats, Brunei Pegasus Coach Padrigao acknowledged that there are still room for improvement for local players. He said, 'Most of our locals lack experience in this type of competition but they are slowly getting their bearing. With more competitions, there is no way to go for the team but up.' He noted, 'The locals had the feel of a high-level basketball in the competition. They get to gauge their basketball skills with other nations.' He pointed out, 'Liang Wei and Mizzi look like they are comfortable in this type of league. I think all locals improved in their own way since our training in Brunei.' Brunei Pegasus' next game will be against BBM CLS Knights on February 15. |
