Brunei Pegasus to soar in Thai basketball league- December 25, 2019Since the exit of the Brunei Barracudas from the ASEAN Basketball League in 2012, no professional basketball team from Brunei has ever competed in any high level competition. Next year starting in February, Brunei Darussalam will be represented by Brunei Pegasus to compete in the Thailand Basketball Super League. Founder of Pegasus Sport Agency Samuel Jong signed an agreement with the league in Thailand on Wednesday. The Brunei Pegasus will feature a majority of local basketball players, who will benefit from much needed exposure and competitive experience. Each team in the league is allowed three imports from ASEAN member countries and one international player. 'I want to provide a platform for Brunei basketball players to play and bring Brunei Darussalam back to the professional basketball scene. Let us start from this point to further build and develop Brunei basketball,' Samuel said. Besides the Thailand Basketball Super League, Samuel also hopes to send a Brunei team to compete in the Malaysia basketball league. Other teams competing in the Thailand Basketball Super League are Luang Prabang (Laos), Ns Matrix (Malaysia), Adroit (Singapore), Mekong United (Vietnam), CLS Knights (Indonesia), Hi Tech and Dunkin Raptors (Thailand), and Makabayan and ZNO Eagles (Philippines). |
