BBA to host Brunei Inter-District Basketball

THE Brunei Basketball Association (BBA) will host the 2018 Brunei Inter-District Basketball Tournament from tomorrow until February 13. The tournament will also include Ladies and Veteran categories. 'One of the purposes of the inter-district is to identify potential players for the Borneo Inter-City Tournament in May. Brunei will host the Borneo Inter-City Tournament and we anticipate strong interest from local players to participate. This is also why we chose to include the Ladies and Veteran category this year,' said Ang Han Then, Organising Chairman of the tournament. Each district is required to field at least five players below 23 years in each of the men's category team to develop young basketball players in Brunei. The revised format of including young players will not only provide exposure to them, but will also help balance talents in the team, thus creating a more competitive tournament. The tournament will also serve to help Brunei Basketball Association select men's players for the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifier to be held in Bangkok in June.
