Defending champion Shahrdari Gorgan (Superleague) signed 31-year-old American 188cm guard Joseph Young (college: Oregon) for the upcoming season. Young, who most recently played in Kuwait for Kuwaiti D1 league, averaged an impressive 23.0ppg, 2.7rpg, and 2.8apg in 6 West Asia Super League games last season. He also played for Sturgeons (CBA) in the Chinese league.
In 2015, he was drafted by the Indiana Pacers (NBA) in the second round (43rd overall). Young graduated from the University of Oregon, and it is his tenth season in pro basketball.
He is a very experienced player. Young has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to six different countries on three different continents (Europe, Asia and of course North America). He has played previously professionally in China (Monkey Kings, Royal Fighters and Hunan), Greece (Promitheas), Italy (Napoli), Kuwait, NBA G League (Indiana Mad Ants and Birmingham Squadron) and NBA Summer League (LA Lakers). Young won West Asia Super League Group Gulf Coast championship title in 2024.
Among many awards, he was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese CBA Honorable Mention back in 2021. He played also for University of Houston for 13 years.
