Defending champion Sporting Al Riyadi Beirut (LBL) signed 31-year-old American 193cm guard Zach Lofton (college: NM State, agency: Slash Sports) for the upcoming season. Lofton, who was the top scorer at Homentmen, put up impressive stats of 21.8ppg, 7.7rpg, 4.2apg, and 1.5spg in 11 LBL games in Lebanon last season, helping his team reach the semifinals. He also played for Meralco Bolts (PBA) in the Filipino league and averaged 30.5ppg, 5.8rpg, and 2.5apg in 4 games in the East Asia Super League. Additionally, Lofton briefly played for Ahly Benghazi (D1) in the Libyan league.
Lofton is a very experienced player. He has traveled quite extensively during his pro career, playing in eight different countries on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America). Lofton has previously played professionally in China (Liaoning Yi Sheng), Germany (Seawolves), Kuwait (Kazma), the Philippines, the NBA G League (Grand Rapids Gold), the NBA Summer League (Milwaukee Bucks), and The Basketball Tournament (Panamaniacs).
Among many awards, he was voted Asia-Basket.com All-Lebanese League Guard of the Year in 2023.
He graduated from New Mexico State University in 2018 and it will be his seventh season in pro basketball. Lofton played for other colleges such as Texas Southern University, University of Minnesota, Illinois State University, and San Jacinto College.
